In the three days I was watching this show…yes, you read that right, I watched all ten episodes in three days…I was a big fan of three people. Damian, Hannah and Cameron. So, while the show ended on a good note for me because of Damian winning (and Samuel of course) I was a bit bummed when Cameron and Hannah left. I completely understood why Cameron left as I can attest to the fact that sometimes what God is telling you to do doesn’t make sense to others. However, I did not want him or Hannah to leave. Period.
I’ve often thought of GLEE as “my” show. I was a choir geek and own that title proudly. Most of my friends, or let’s face it all of them, do not get why I like it. Or, why I like The Glee Project. That doesn’t stop me.
I will, from here on out, support the careers of Damian, Cameron and Hannah no matter where that takes them. And, trust me, it will take them to great places. This may seem silly to you but I will be praying for them as they navigate through the jungles of popularity and life in general.

Rebellious?

I’m rebellious.
Not really, but I’ve always wanted to say that.
Ever since my New Kids on the Block phase, which I still get teased about, I have tried to keep my fanaticism to a minimum.
When a big hullabaloo is made over something or someone I tend to shy away.
Harry Potter. Twilight. Justin Bieber.
Yeah. I was resistant to all three initially, and one of those three I am still resistant to thankfully.
However, after a little bit of the fuss has died down I tend to want to find out what the heck just happened.
So, Harry Potter and Twilight? Watched, read and beloved. Glee? Adore.
And my newest found love would be The Glee Project.
Mmmhmm. I was curious about this one but not willing to watch it.
That is until the other day.
Now I have watched six whole episodes in the span of two days.
Heck, the show has ended and I am trying to avoid the internet like the plague.
I do NOT want to find out the winner accidentally.
It’s a good thing I have a short memory because I actually read an article online about the show before I was truly interested.

Still I am left pondering…am I stubborn because I wait so long and what is the next thing I will drag my feet on getting into and eventually love?

We shall see.

facebook “reality”

If you haven’t heard of Facebook then I highly suggest skipping this post. But, really, who hasn’t heard of Facebook?

On Facebook I have exactly 319 friends…did you read that? 319 friends.
There is something about that statement that sounds ridiculous.

Half of those people, I’ve never met in person. That doesn’t mean I care any less about them.
A quarter of those people are from my past. And, another quarter are from my current life. These are all rough estimations.
Do you see the issue?

Three quarters of the people I am interacting with are people I will most likely never see in real life.
I care about them. Comment on their photos. Have regular interactions with them. And yet, in the “real world” my friends list is much, much smaller. You know, the friends I hang out with. In person. Face to face.
Even the people in my every day life are victims of this altered reality. How? Well, when we are interacting mostly on the computer we aren’t seeing these people as wholes. We are seeing statuses and photos. As people they become to us what they would have us see instead of the people they actually are. I don’t know about you but I am not posting every little detail about my life online.

While I am semi-ranting, another thing about Facebook, do I really need a farm, mall, or sorority?
Is it really fun for me to try to remember to feed fake fish fake food so they don’t fake die?

I know I might be alone in this. Does that upset me? No. My gut feeling is there are many people who have tons of friends online and yet offline are lonely. We have been given a false sense of friendship I think.

And yet, I am not suggesting people get rid of Facebook. I am not. I just think that maybe we should spend as much, or more, time investing in our offline life.

Getting Green

It’s almost embarrassing to admit this but we just recently started recycling. We had done it half-assed before but never whole hog. (that fulfills my quota of idioms for the day)
Amazingly enough I didn’t even know what I could and could not recycle. I found a few sites on the web that tell you what to recycle but the best resource I found was my city website. I found out that I can recycle so much through them.
What makes me sad is seeing how much of our daily trash could have been recycled this whole time and instead has been sent to a landfill. Everyone has to start somewhere though.
I don’t know where this sudden feeling of responsibility came from but I am glad to have found it.

The Post Where I Let Off Some Steam

There are a few things that are bubbling under the surface of my skin. So, instead of boiling away I will get it out.

I hate when I get emails from companies or groups that make it a pain to unsubscribe from their newsletters. I am human. I am fickle. I change my mind. Keeping me on your list or making it a pain in the butt to unsub will NOT get me to read the newsletter. My trash bin can hold more mails than you can send me.

Some people just infuriate me whether or not it is directly related to me. Things like people not believing historical events or illnesses because they were not there. Guess what? Just because you were not born until 1992 (a generic year) doesn’t mean that nothing sad, tragic or important happened before you were here.

Those who think they have cornered the market on parenting. Wow. Enough said. No, not enough. Your house is not my house. My child is not your child. Parenting is not about everyone copycatting each others information. It is making informed and loving decisions for your family & children. I appreciate new viewpoints. I do. I just don’t appreciate hammering those viewpoints and the idea that MY choices are wrong if I don’t agree with yours.

*breathes* There. I feel better now. That wasn’t too bad, was it?

Murphy’s Law: Staying Up Late, Waking Up Early

When Diet Coke, and an internet obsession, keep you up until 2 am your child will wake up at least 1 1/2 hours early just because.
(As a side note, four hours sleep isn’t really sleep in my book.)

Meal List Wednesday

Ok, I know that people do Meal List Monday. However, now that I am back to doing Meal lists again, I am doing them starting on Wednesdays because of how our paydays fall. So, that oddity aside, here is my meal list for the week. I’ll link whatever recipes I can in a bit.

Homemade Pizza with Salad

Hotdogs on buns with Baked beans

Pinto Beans with fried potatoes

Stacked Enchiladas (using l/o beans)
with homemade enchilada sauce

Chicken Alfredo with Veggies and Pasta

Chicken, Black Bean/Mango Salsa and Couscous

Pork Roast Carnitas (crockpot meal mmm)

Whole Chicken with Potatoes, Carrots, and Onion

Bathroom Paranoia

When I see photos of people it feels, insanely, as if they are watching me.
And no, I don’t think I am paranoid typically.

“Little” Is a Relative Term

Our daughter is little. Only she’s not completely little. Examples? Of course. I know you are dying for them. haha.
She doesn’t always want me to come to the bathroom with her.
She can open the dead bolts.
She tells me what she wants to eat.
She’s two and a half.
She uses phrases like “I have pwobwem” and “I put on swimsuit”.
She pretends to write letters on her magna doodle and occasionally gets them right.
She puts a blanket on her head, calls herself a baby and wants me to cuddle her.
She tells me “I scared” when she is up higher than she’d like and wants me to help her.
She’s two and a half.

Two and three quarters really and quite honestly she blows my mind every day.
